At a time when so many of us are apart with no active college, school or work environment. There is nothing better than getting together on a group call with friends and family. Also, one gets highly disheartened realising that one has missed a special moment as the popularity of group calls continues to grow.
In an endeavour to provide an enhanced user experience over group calls, voice calls and video calls while providing security and privacy of end to end encryption. WhatsApp has started rolling out join-able group calls to let users join a group, video or voice call after it was started and missed initially.
This update helps users to join a group call even if they initially missed a call when their phone rings, aiding users to drop-off and rejoin a group Whatsapp call – as long as the call is ongoing.
It reduces the burden of answering a group call as it starts and brings the spontaneity and ease of in – person conversations to group calling on Whatsapp.
How to join a missed call:
Users will find a ‘Tap to Join’ option in the call log on WhatsApp to join an ongoing group call , even if it was missed originally.
Users are required to hit that option in order to join that call.
WhatsApp has also created a new call info screen that will allow users to see who all have been invited for the conversation but not yet joined.
Details of the active participants of the call can be obtained from the call info screen instead of getting their details after joining the call.
Additionally , the call info screen is also equipped with an ‘Ignore’ button to let you ignore a call and join it later from the calls tab in WhatsApp.
Users need to update their apps, in order to access the benefits of this new feature.
